Are they installed on one side of a door or both?

Usually they are installed on the inside of outswing doors and the outside of inswing doors. They can be on both sides if there’s damage or in areas where the door could be hit ie warehouse/ stockroom.

As Dan said – - they are “on the side of the door you PUSH on”

Invented because of how doors swell with humidity and stick – - so a reinforcement for where you kick the door to get it open.
