Topic tags/keywords: question trick

I have about 12 boxes(trays really) to put together for a Xmas project. They measure 10×13x2.5 and are mitered. I would like to to them all at once, but I have not nearly enough bandclamps or regular clamps that fit that size…I know you can use Rubber bands, I was hoping maybe to get advice on what is a good size to get for this particular applicaiton. I know I want the thicker ones and I prefer to be able to get them locally from an office supply store or big box store, if they even carry something like that…What are your suggestions?

I dont think simply using tape(which i will be doing to get them together initially provides enough pressure…but I could be wrong…

I did do a search, but I didnt see anything that really applied to what I needed to know…Thanks all.

yea, im definately doing the rollup and around thing…I have a groove in the bottom that a hardboard bottom fits into…I was just worried as to whether the tape would give me enough pressure or not..

I went to a truch tire company and got a truck tube that was trashed. Blow-out. They gave me the tube. I was able to cut them into bands about 3/4 to 1” wide and was sble to stretch them to atleast 24” So they should be able to go around a box.

Here is my blog on them

I bought this set of rubber bands from Rockler and use them all of the time when gluing up boxes and other small items.
