Topic tags/keywords: question oak poplar

Had a craigslist ad looking for some lumber and had a lady tell me she had a good bit of wood she wanted to get rid of to make some extra Christmas money. Anyways here are the pictures. She said there are 2 other stacks of wood to go along with this. She totaled it up to be aroudn 400 board feet. She said she thought most of it was oak and she wasnt sure about the other wood but it was a greenish brown color so im thinking Poplar. I dont think this wood has been properly stored as you can tell some/most of the wood looks to be cupped at the ends or warped. Do yal think its worth anything? These are some pictures she sent me.

You’d have to go look at it. Can’t really tell from pictures

I would have to see it in person before commiting to any price. Looks too clean to have been outside very long. Most likely air dried and not stickered right. I would offer $1 bdft after seeing it and knowing it was usable.

Wouldn’t hurt to take a moisture meter if you can get your hands on one. If it’s not dry enough bargain for the stickers too. Just something to think about. Hope it works out. BTKS

It does look like you have some oak there but I wouldn’t offer much for it, perhaps $60.00.

The place the wood is at is about an hour away thats kinda why i wanted to see what yal thought about because i dont really want to drive there just to look at it. I think im gonna pass on it. I had a family friend Give me about 400-500 board ft of poplar and oak about 6 months ago and it was stickered and stored under a barn for a number of years.
