The LOML and I will be spending some vacation time inTennesee the first week in December and will be very close to Murfreesboro when we pass through Nashville. Has anyone actually visited Steel City in Murfreesboro? Is there a company store / showroom there or anything to see?

We have been interested in their table saws (35618) and thought that there might be an “opportunity” if visiting SC in person. I recall a couple of other LJ’s had gone to Grizzley showrooms in Springfield Mo and one in Pennsylvania and caught some great deals. Scratch & Dent?

We have sent three emails about this to their customer service email address without response.

By the way, I was at our local Woodcraft today and asked them about Steel City and saw a lot of sour looks. Seems that Woodcraft may be dropping Steel City due to inabilty to keep them in inventory or even meeting special orders. The local WC guys say the they will start carrying General tools.

Thanks in advance for any information you can share.

Rick, I live in Tennesse not too far from Murfreeboro. A couple of years ago, I was considering a SC tool and called their Murfreesboro office. I was told there was not showroom, nor could I purchase directly from them. Now again, this was about three years ago and thinks may have changed. pkennedy

Rick, my son and family live in Murfreesboro, and I told him about Steel City, and go find out info on it, as he likes to work the wood, also. He reported, like Chiefk said. No showroom, no buying direct from them. Had to go thru a dealer. That’s kind of like me. I live 10 miles from the Ranger Boat Mfg. plant, and can’t buy from them, but have to use my dealer. I’ve been running Ranger Boats for years, fished competition bass tournaments, and Ranger is even one of our sponsors, but still have to use a dealer. You know—- that really sucks when you think about it

Cheifk / Rick;

Thanks for the feedback. I received a PM from BrianK from Smyna area and he found out same.

Guess that why Grizzley and others, with showrooms, are successful.

Looking forward to seeing Tennessee next week.

Best regards

Rick: I’m originally from Texas,born and raised there for 32 years. My wife and I moved to Memphis, Tn. in 1982, and lived there for 20 years. If you go to Memphis to see the sites, don’t stay long. That is one dangerous town anymore. Nashville and beyond is so much better. Have fun on your trip, and be careful out there.

Finally got a response to the emails sent to Steel City Customer Service from a Terry Ross;

Sorry for the late reply. The email for the customer care is supposed to be redirected but there must be a glitch in the software. We are no longer in TN, we moved to 3656 Enterprise Ave , Hayward CA , 94545 on May 1 2009.

We do not have a showroom here, only the warehouse. 35618 is in stock but I am unsure if this location will sell direct, that would be up to the manager.
