Picked this up from a friend of mine. When I got it, it had some light surface rust on it which came off nicely. I think I traded him a few shotgun shells so I don’t have much in it, probably $5 or so. I just thought it would be neat to have since it has the original box and vapor wrap.

It’s still new in the box because it was probably kept there right after someone got it for Christmas, smiled politely, and put it away. Not a great user, especially if it has the one screw holding the frog down, but it sure is in nice shape. Fun enough to have around for the few bucks you gave for it.
Here’s some more info on them:

I agree with Tim. I’d sit it on a shelf with the box or sell it to a collector. I have a couple given to me just to fill out the #4 collection.

Okay so I made some time and took it apart last night. It is a one screw frog, the iron looks really thin and it clearly looks like a cheapo. I doubt one would ever get a nice edge on it. Oh well, I’m not out much, at least I have that. The $3.98 marked on the box seems about right. lol

See if someone will buy/trade maybe?

Happen to have the C-5 version of this plane.

I have ground an 8” radius on the edge. Plane is a nice jack/scrub plane. Have had to resharpen the iron ONCE so far.

Yep, it also has that single bolt frog. Not too big a deal, as there is a rib in the center to keep things aligned up.

It is the Red Jack plane in this group. $8 was the asking price…paid $6 + tax.

Just sold a Corsiar on the bay a while back. tried a Great Neck G-4 for a Disston No.7 Backsaw this spring.

The smoothers seemed to be a bit on the “loose” side, never could get them to tighten up. This Jack plane holds it’s settings nicely.

This was the Trade-in plane.

Hey guys. I’m brand new here and just wondering if someone can give me any info on a Gandalph carving I purchased at an auction over the weekend. If so please message. Sorry to hijack your post. Lol
