what kind of wood is this?

I use a lot of skid wood and sometimes I see some really weird looking wood. I have some that is very hard heavy & tough. When planed smooth it has a plasticy feel to it. It is almost white in color and has no smell when cut. The grain in this stuff is incredible, a combination of burl and quartersawn oak. But the grain goes the whole 4 ft length of the boards. The company who uses the skids is from Georgia, so i assume it is a species that is common down there. I havent used any of it yet, because when I let it dry out it twists and warps something terrible. Just curious,

Yes. Pics would help. There was a discussion about pallet wood a few months ago and there are some common types used. Check out the discussion and links within to see if the descriptions/photos match your wood.
