Has there ever been one? Anywhere or like at a Woodworkers Show? The shows are coming up around here so I was kind of wondering.

I always thought that we should do a get together for those of us in the mid west. I see some jocks in the New England states do that and it seems to work out well for them. This is definitely something we might want to think about getting together, at a show or maybe a jocks picnic somewhere. I am in NW Indiana and I know we have some in Michigan the UP though I think. We can do a family thing too bring the kids or grand kids something along those lines. I’m in for helping put it together if we can get some volunteers and such.

Isn’t there a Woodworking Show in Milwaukee in Jan or Feb at State Fair Park? That might be a great place to meet.

russv, yeah but I’m not in it. A buddy of mine was a while back but due to time constraints isn’t any more. But I can maybe do some checking around. The Rockler store used to host their meetings if I remember correctly I can ask them next time I’m there. And I was just there today.

Gary, yeah and I always take Friday off and go and I usually go Saturday too, I’ve been know to go all three days so any day would work for me. There’s one coming up in Schaumburg NW of Chicago soon but it might be too soon. I’d be willing to trek to a Chicago show, but I’d still go to the Milwaukee show too. Just like to go.

I’m fairly new to woodworking, and would definitely try to make a meeting if there were one in the northern Chicago/Milwaukee area. I live in Round Lake, IL, and it would be great to meet some other woodworkers in the area to bounce ideas off of and help me learn more. I’m going to watch this thread.

BTW, when/where is the Schaumburg event?

I would deffeinately suggest everyone that can to attend. Uor meet in Arizona was a lot of fun. It was nice to get to put faces with the other members and just spend some timee together.

Hope you all have lots of fun.

They sent me a flyer for the Schaumburg show, why I do not know, the only ones I’ve ever been to have always been the Milwaukee ones.

It’s December 11th through the 13th at the Exploration & Discovery Halls, 1551 North Thoreau Drive. Good thing I didn’t throw the flyer out.

I just checked their website. I think it’s hilarious how they try to get the guys to “be allowed” to go, by giving a coupon for free spouse admission with your paid admission! That might just get me there!

Yeah, they started that a while back probably for that very reason. You see a lot of totally bored wifes there though. LOL And girlfriends.

Here is a link to the blog I started about the Chicago Woodworking show:

http://lumberjocks.com/kshipp/blog/11968

Anyone that can make it would be appreciated and I can even set you up with free admission in exchange for hanging out at the LumberJock booth for an hour or so. Post on that blog if you are going to be at the show.

Well, that was lucky timing that I checked this thread this morning, since the woodworking show is here in Minneapolis this weekend! Thanks for the info.

I could always set up another visit with Kelvin at Ravin Farm up here by Lansing, MI. I know of a cabinet maker here too. Maybe we could check out his operation.
