Anyone know of a good place to buy short lengths of shopvac hose? Ideally with tapered 2-1/4” OD fittings on both ends? I’m talking about less than a foot of 2-1/2” hose. This is to connect a Ridgid WD1450 14-gal shopvac to a Cleavue CV06 Mini mounted on a plastic salvage drum.

Basically I want to build a platform for the shopvac to sit slightly above the top of the salvage drum, and use the shortest length of hose possible to connect it to the shopvac to the CV06 mini. I’m trying to minimize the shop footprint and maximize suction through the system. I can’t find any 90 degree elbow with the appropriate OD (2-1/4” tapered fittings) to go to the shopvac and the CV06. Even if I could, I’d still need a short length of flexible hose so that I could remove the shopvac from time to time for wet cleanup, etc.

Here are some pictures of the stuff I’m working with:

I don’t know of anywhere to get short hose with 2 1/4” fittings on either end, but you can get a 10’ hose from Rockler and cut it. They also sell screw-on fittings that take you from 2 1/2” to 2 1/4”. It won’t be cheap, though. Probably $25 for the hose and $7 a piece for each fitting.

Lowes sells 8’ lengths with replaceable ends. You can cut it any length you want and then attach whatever end fitting that you want. The hose comes with several types of end fittings.

For your 90-degree elbow, I’ve read where some folks remove the brush from a Shop-Vac brush attachment leaving just the 2-1/2” elbow.

What about PVC pipe and rubber fittings?

They’re cheaper at Lowes or HD… I use them all over the shop.

Thanks for the help-I found some hose. Turns out woodcraft sells a collapsible hose with fittings. (My local one had fittings included, none of the online descriptions mention fittings). I ended up buying a 1-3ft stay-put flex hose for $17. Mine included 2-1/4” OD tapered swivel fittings, so I can plug it directly into my WD1450 and CV06 mini ports. After I build this thing, I’ll have to figure out what to do with a spare 10’ hose…

Have your say...
