I was wondering about soaking your water stones. should you soak them before you use them, or do you think you can leave them soak all the time. what are your thoughts.

Stones 1500 and below I let soak. I add a pinch of dish soap so the water doesn’t turn funky, a bit of bleach also works, you don’t need much. Finer stones you wet just before use and dry when done. It’s fine to store the coarse stone in water.
