Topic tags/keywords: question

Hello all. I have a question that I can’t seem to wrap my mind around. I assembled the pieces of my treasure chest and placed the rabbets on the blocks prior to assembly. I am doing six of these boxes and with the blocks rabbeted I just didn’t trust my small router table to make two start stop rabbets on each of the tops and bottoms. That would be sixteen start stops per box times six boxes! I chose instead to use my router guide and go from rabbet to rabbet while the panels are assembled. This way I could see what I am doing and start and stop at the correct point. My question, should I go left to right or right to left? I will place the guide an the bottom of the panel and going across the top inside. Simple question but I seem confused. I think left to right, is that correct?

Routing by hand on an outside edge using the router guide, go counter-clockwise.

-- Chris - Would work, but I'm too busy reading about woodwork.

I tried to post a picture but it just didn’t post. If you go to my home page and scroll down there are pics of the panels that make up the sides and you can tell better what I am asking.

OK, I did a little trial and error on some assembled scrap and got it down now. left to right, or clock wise since it’s on an inside cut. CB was correct if I was cutting on the outside of the panel, but this is an inside cut.

Just remember the cutters teeth always should cut into the material as you pull.
