I need to build some storage area for my wife. Our kitchen just doesn’t have enough pantry space. We have decided we want to add some built in cabinet space in the room adjacent to the kitchen. This room has a recessed area next to a fireplace. I want to enclose this recess, put some cabinet doors on the enclosure etc. and make a built it set of cabinets. Any suggestions on how to do this or a link to plans?

Why would you want to store your wife in the pantry anyway? :-)

Actually, I need to add more information.
1. The wife isn’t going in the pantry… :)
2. The room in which I want to build the pantry space is a add on room that used to be a backporch, so the fireplace is actually the back, or outside, of the fireplace in the adjacent room. I am assuming insulation is adequate.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I say send Mario a round trip ticket from SA to your house and let him help you.

A picture of the available space would help a lot.

Here some (very bad) pictures. The small refrigerator is in the corner where I want to build the pantry.

CelticDaddio, Just a couple more questions. 1.Dimensions? How deep is that corner? How wide do you want the pantry and how tall? 2. Are you trying to match or blend this cabinet with any others in the same room and are you going to want to paint this cabinet or stain? 3. What’s your woodworking experience and what kind of tools will you have to build this with? Not trying to get too personal, just want to be able to help you with your project. If you want to pm me the dimensions, etc. I will be glad to do a quick lay out on the compter for you.

Dimensions: Width ~ 5’, Height 9’, Depth 24.75”
WIll paint cabinet.
I don’t have any furniture building skills or experience really, but have done a few things, like frame some walls, build a fence, just finished building a skateboard ramp for my son.
I have a benchtop table saw, circular saw, drill press, hand drill, chop saw, but that’s about it.
