Topic tags/keywords: question bandsaw

Hey guys!
Quick question, would you buy this band saw if you were thinking of upgrading saws?
Ive been looking to upgrade my saw for some time now and ran a crossed this laguna 16. The owner is asking $1800. He told me that it has very little use and is fairly new. Im going to look at it tomorrow.
What do you all think is he asking too much? I dont know how much these saws ran new.

Thanks for the advice!:)

I believe (but am not sure) that the saw is an LT16, if true those are in the $3400 (+/-) range. As for whether I would buy it for $1800, I just paid that for an MM16…a direct competitor of the LT16. Be aware, that may require a 30 amp /240V outlet for power.

I would say a big yes, the saw is one fantastic machine, it is 3999.00 from Amazon. I have one in my shop and though it may take awhile for you to get used to it, it does a fantastic job, both for re-sawing and for scroll work.
Mine has a 3hp Leeson motor, and it is only wired for 220. The one you show in the picture has the wheel base and the machine looks very clean, the wheels are solid cast iron, just a very nice machine.

So, Matt…what’s the decision?

Thanks for the input guys! I’ll be taking a look at the saw today, and if I like what I see I will buy it.

Make sure which version it is and where its made. I can’t tell from the pic, but if it’s the 16HD then yes, if the 3000 series then no.

^ +1 to where it’s made. Which motor it has is important too. For that kind of $$ I wouldn’t buy it if it didn’t have a Leeson or Baldor.

That’s a very impressive saw. Looks like it’s in good shape. Let us know what you decide.

Thanks to all of you! It is now sitting proudly in my shop!:) unfortunately I can’t even use it yet because my shop is still under construction, And power is not connected yet.. It should be finished within a month or so. But when I went to look at it I tryed it and it worked wonderfully! It even came with 13 brand new blades.

Thanks again!!

Agree with Fred. Sounds like you got a decent deal on a great saw. Best of luck with it.
