I don’t know if anyone here has tried to take advantage of the deal on Amazon that advertises a 10 pack of Freud 10” blades for $41.65 or not, but be careful. I saw the ad, placed an order, got a confirmation, and today received delivery…of one blade. The packing slip clearly states “10 Pack”. I will try to contact the seller (Acehardwareoutlet.com) tomorrow morning, but I am not optimistic. Apparently, advertising multi-packs and then delivering one item is a fairly common practice with this outfit. I will update the post tomorrow.

Hope you get them to ship the other nine blades.

I came across that place a number of times but never purchased from them. I was never sure if they were the bona fide Ace Hardware or not but then I came across this:

Please note: This web site is owned and operated by AG Lock and Hardware, an independently owned and operated Ace Hardware retailer located in Brooklyn, NY. Neither Ace Hardware Corporation nor any other Ace Hardware retailer is responsible for the operation of this web site or for online purchases made by you.

So I guess not. Ace Hardware is a very reputable company IMO so I would think they would not condone one of their stores doing this. I would nicely complain to the main Ace Hardware in Illinois that one of their stores is pulling this stuff and just maybe they’ll put pressure on the store to stop such practices. It is Ace Hardware’s reputation that it is tarnishing somewhat.

Me, if their Customer Support gives you the old ‘We can’t help’ I’d email David Ziegler Chairman of the Board and Ray Griffith President & CEO. When normal Customer Support channels fail I do that sort of thing all the time and 9 times out of to 10 someone contacts you to correct the problem. So far this year I’ve done it with TomTom, RIM and Pinnacle and they’ve bent over backwards to solve the issues.

I tried to find the item on Amazon just to see how it reads, but could not.

Can you post a link? Maybe it has already been removed.

I just got off the phone with them and they told me that it was a mistake and that the $41.65 is per blade. In all fairness, I should point out that they said they would give a full refund and pay for the return shipping. Oh well, I should have known it was too good to be true.

That’s what Dad always told me…....If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is! Oh well, at least I got the blade for $30.00 shipped

Sounds to me like they broke up a 10-pack and sold the blades individually to be able to provide the deal. Whatever the reason, it’s not a “mistake”—it’s a scam.

40 bucks for a Freud blade sounds too good to be true, John, you got a great deal for $30.00, 10 pack or not I pay upwards of $60.00 for my Freud blades.

$40 for a Freud blade may or may not be a good deal depending on the blade. If it is a Diablo or an Avanti, it’s not such a great deal. If it is an industrial LM* blade, it is. Like everything else, it all depends…

I will bet if you could research the real owners of this operation it will be one of the same ones that operate all those cut rate camera and electronic stores in New York. All appear to be connected to the local “mafia” type operations. I went through all that same crap when I was trying to buy a new high end digital camera.

Just an update, I received an email this morning from Amazon informing me that they were processing a full refund. Apparently, this was a mistake in the seller’s part.

I got my “one” 10” Diablo blade today as well, no 10-pack. Amazon offered to reship a new 10-pack when they became available in 4-7 weeks, or they offered a 90% refund valid immediately. Considering that the new 10-pack could also end up to be a single blade, I accepted the 9/10ths refund. So I now have an Amazon credit for $27, and a 10” Diablo 40T saw blade.

Clearly it was a mistake in the ad. I probably would have called them to verify the pricing and save myself the grief.
