Worksharp 3000 Trouble Dialing In

My WorkSharp was just a tad out of adjustment when I took it out of the box, and like you, I had a dickens of time getting set so the ‘Sharpening Port’ was parallel to the wheel. Any adjustment I made in the skew was either not enough or way too much.

I had a local machine shop lop off a couple of pieces of aluminum (2” wide x 1/4” thick), making sure the ends were 90-degrees square. It cost me a couple of dollars, but the softer, thicker aluminum made it easier to gradually dial-in the skew setting without messing up my chisels.

I have had the WorkSharp for close to year now, and though I have used it quite a bit, have never had to revisit the skew settings.

In addition to their user manual, they have a PDF on their website (http://www.worksharptools.com/pilot.asp?pg=support) by Jerry Work that explains in more detail the setup and use of the machine. That being said, their documentaiton doesn’t really cover this skew adjustment issue very well.

Had the same problem and returned it. The replacement was fine.
