Topic tags/keywords: finish blo shellac ms

I have begun the sanding and glue up phase on a pair of mission chairs which are a design from the 40s maybe a little earlier. (Wide slats and thinner legs 1 ¾ “). I used Maple and still have not found the right mixture for the color which I would like to be a deep golden honey. Does anyone have an idea for me to try? I have tried 3 parts MS 2 parts BLO, 1/3 Poly and MS and I an about to try Blond Shellac, MS and BLO. Any help would be appreciated I’m at a brick wall.
