Hi All;

If you haven't seen the letter from Grizzly here it is (letter).

Basically the letter says that they are moving out and closing the Muncy, PA location and re-locating to the Springfield, MO location which was recently expanded. It looks like October 31, 2015 is the day the facility is closing down.

Makes perfect business sense to me. Muncy is essentially in the middle of nowhere, even taking into consideration its central location in heavily populated Pennsylvania.

Moving to Missouri puts them much closer to two huge shipping areas - the South, and Texas, both high growth areas while still letting them cover the whole midwest with no problems.
Do they have a facility on the West coast?

I purchased a lot of my major tools out of Muncy. When I used to live in PA it was really nice to be within an hour of the store.

Still haven't made it to any of the stores, but the Muncy one was closest by a significant margin. Don't see being able to make it out there before 10/31 either.

I wonder if this will allow those of us who live in PA to avoid paying state sales tax on Grizzly products. If so, score!

No, that's what's even worse! If they keep the Muncy call center open, technically they hold operations in PA and PA residents will have to the pay shipping and sales tax on the product & shipping charges. That's a major setback!

I picked up my jointer there, sales tax is only 6%, however, shipping would have cost me another 12%. Good thing I had a 5% coupon, which almost covered the sales tax. I don't see Grizzly offering many coupons lately, paying an extra 18% on a machine next time will have me seriously looking at all my options.

The major advantage of being able to pick up machinery there is not having to worry about shipping damage or waiting for the freight company to deliver it. Plus you get to look at it on the floor and see how it's built.

Boooo!

Plus I imagine the shipping from MO will be more expensive/slower.

I think they charge a flat rate per item for shipping, regardless of where you live. At least that's how I've been seeing it compared to the catalog, where they have the shipping listed with the price.

I live in AZ but I get their freight from Springfield surprisingly fast. Sometimes in 3 days.

That's much faster than other items I've had to order via truck.

Went to Muncy today. Since they canceled the tent sale this weekend, they had all the machine available today. Not many people were there. It sounded like they were gonna be bringing more small stuff out throughout the week. Most of the demo shop was already gone by noon. When I left.
