13.25" on DW735 planer

It looks like one could put a carrier board below a 13.25” wide board on a Dewalt DW735 planer and shift the board left and right with multiple passes to plane the board similar to how some joint boards wider than their jointer. Is it possible? Is it safe?

I never though about it. The stock setup will only plane right to 13”, perhaps a little less.
I think for the trouble, I would just modify my project plans a little to accommodate the 13” limitation.

Reason this question came up – Fellow LJ has a piece 13.25” wide he needs planed for a guitar rebuild.
