I am want to start making Windsor Chairs and need a lathe. I don’t want to buy more than I need and would like to keep the cost between $500 – $1,200. Can anyone give me any recommendations for a suitable lathe? Thanks for your help. I greatly appreciate it. Thanks. |

i am also in the market for a lathe and have been told repeatedly by some one i trust at rockler that for the money the new midi lathe buy delta is hands down the last lathe I’ll ever need to buy and if i add the extension it will be better then most of the full size lathes on the market. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=22014&filter=midi there’s a link i mean this thing is a mean machine -- I buy tools so i can make more money,so ican buy more tools so I can work more, to make more money, so I can buy more tool, so I can work more |

I have been pretty happy with the Jet 12-28 midi. It does all the work I need in my small furniture shop. Didn’t even buy the base extension yet. It is a rock solid tool…just not quick to change over the belt, but I don’t turn enough to care. -- Russ, Anchorage AK |
