Got a shopsmith lathe this weekend (free) and wanted to see if anyone here had ever made a stand for one of these guys. My uncle had this thing in his barn, and I ended up with it in my shop. I have cleaned it up and it runs remarkably well. It is only the parts to make a lathe. Through some internet research, I have found this to be an original 1947Shopsmith E. I have, a headstock, tailstock and a rest. Now I need to figure out how to make a “tool” out of this thing. Bought some 1 1/2” conduit for rails, and have it sitting on sawhorses now. Not real safe for turning anything. Wanted to see if anyone had a slick idea for a stand.

Did you ever get this Shopsmith up and running? I don’t have any advice, but am curious as to what happened.
