Topic tags/keywords: bandsaw rikon 14 band saw

Well, following nearly a year of shopping, drooling, and evaluating I think I am going to pull the trigger on a new bandsaw this weekend. I have decided on the Rikon 14” Deluxe and want to hear all your opinion on this machine. Is this the right direction to go? Bang for the buck it appears to be and the reviews in publications all seem very high. So, now for your thoughts and reviews. I appreciate your feedback and thoughts.

I see Woodcrafter is listing the 14” Rikon for $699
Grizzly has their basic 17” for $775.
I have read a lot of reports about poor customer service from Rikon but Grizzly gets top ratings for customer service.
Just a little more info to confuse the issue.
After a lot of research I have recently ordered the Grizzly G0513X2B 17” 2 HP Extreme (sale price $1075). It was back ordered when I first ordered it at ($1195). A quick email to Grizzly customer service and I got a response in 3 hours changing my invoice to the new price. It is now due to arrive Dec. 4th.
My top choice would be the 18” PowerMatic but $3000 is more than I wanted to spend on a band saw.

I have had some dealing with Rikon customer service, the lathe I bought from Woodcraft was a display unit, and they could not find the wrench that went with it. I called Rikon and told them I it was missing, and the guy said no problem!, mailed me one right away with no problems. I have had no other problems with my Rikon lathe and would love to have their bandsaw.

I literally flipped a coin between the Rikon and the Grizzly. Wound up with the Grizzly, but KNOW you’re going to love your Rikon.
