oh my goodness.

1) you have handled the terrible comments well. I was glad to see that you did not lower yourself to their level.

2) It amazes me to see that people don’t see your work as “art”.

3) It amazes me that people don’t love your work – it is amazing and it is BEAUTIFUL. I would love to have that in my home to look at it every day. —even the picture on the back (that someone said was a waste).

4) “Picasso is a somebody” you are just a guy … ha .. so was Picasso “just a guy”. Personally I think the cabinet that you made is worth a lot more than a painting that hangs on a wall.

I sure hope you sell it for what you are asking so you can post “SOLD” on it :)

If I had lots of $$$ I’d be buying this and asking for more.

Mark, the comments are rather typical. I would say you got a lot of publicity on e-bay. Good luck.

Interesting comments. Hopefully someone in the news media will pick up on this and generate even more interest. Are you working on anything currently?

BTW. I love the Redbacks.

I love all of Marks cabinets too, amazing detail, and truly inspired designs. With regards price, I’m not sure a new artist, no matter how talented, can fetch prices far in excess of the established brands like Nakashima and Maloof . I have a feeling Mark just isn’t quite ready to part with these pieces yet (and who could blame him!)...

I hope you get your asking price too Mark; if lawyers can command $350/hr and up I see no reason why artists such as yourself shouldn’t as well. Good luck :)

I kinda feel like I’m guilty of false advertising!!
I don’t really have “functional wood art” in my collection of projects.. nice goal though.
and my pix is the work of Douglas Bordner

Gorgeous piece of work from an artistic perspective.

It’s highly amusing to see how deftly you exposed the under belly of the E-bay consumer.

If it is not or does not appear undervalued they don’t want it.

And the pretentious nature of the art community:
If the Sultan of Brunei bought one then Micheal Jackson and Britney Spears would want one as well.

that is so true, Bob
we claim to be “individuals” yet we cling to the herd only wanting what the others have
