Topic tags/keywords: mortising machine

I was looking at my local craig’s list and saw a AMD model 5131 mortising machine for $125.00. It is from 1993 and only used one time, so they say. with bit. I am looking for opinions on this potential purchase.

I know this was a long time ago, but did you get this mortising machine? Was it a good deal?

I didn’t get any feed back so I passed on buying it. You might try posting again and see if you get a response if your thinking of buying one. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

What are you using for mortising now? I use my trusty mortising and gooseneck chisels, but then I have not needed to meet any pressing deadlines, nor make too many M&T joints (yet :-).

I haven’t had to make any, I’ve been away from the shop for a while. Installing 1400 sq. Ft. of concrete pavers at my house by my self, so it’s taking up all my time. Then I will rebuild my garage shop the way I would like it. I just bought a two year old Jet table saw JTAS-10XL Left Tilt with the 52” fence with the router station for $700.00 and he included a set of mortising chisels for the drill press, so if I need I can use that for now. I am looking to swap with someone for a 36” fence for the saw because the 52” hardly fits in my one car garage.
