I’ve got an armoire project coming up in a couple of months and I’m going to need about 50 brd feet of 5/4 and about 100 brd feet of 4/4 Birdseye. Anyone know where I could find this in the Southeast so maybe I can send a truck after it and not pay more for shipping than the price of the lumber. Has to be white on one side.

Thanks
Bruc

Birdseye is beautiful stuff but can be expensive and prone to tearout when planing….have you considered using any veneers?

We visited this place last year…they had some of the most impressive hardwoods I’ve ever seen.

There was someone on LumberJocks. A member that was selling BirdsEye maple. Some of the other guys bought some and raved about the quality.

I think it was Barlow.

Here is another posting of his on his birdseye

Karson I do believe your talking about Barlow and his wood is extremely nice quality. I purchase some curly maple and birdeye maple for him this past summer. He out of the U.P. in Michigan. I do have a good source in the south east and will post it shortly….Blkcherry

Jocks I certainly appreciate all your replies and will certainly get busy talking to some of those folks. Blkcherry thanks for your post, some of those prices are worth jumping over the line and taking a poke at.
At some of those prices I think I need to do a little stocking up and that company not that far from me I don’t think. I need some 8/4 and 4/4 Cherry and the price from my regular vendor is a little more than theirs.
I do like some of the lumber I saw on a couple more of the sites you guys gave me and have already talked to one of them.
Ouchy, our weather radio just went off and said we could get 5 inches of rain tomorrow so I better put the move on out to the shop and throw about 50 brd feet of popular in the door I left out..lol
