I am in awe of the designs of the boxes although perplexed how one goes about gluing up the wood to get the different wood designs, could someone explain this mystery?

Check out Tony Ward's web site. He is a bandsaw box expert. There is also a lady LJ who authored a bandsaw book. I will try to find her as well.

Edit: I was thinking of Donna Menke.

Jim, not sure of your question. Do you want to glue up contrasting woods in the same block and design your box from that? I love doing bandsaw boxes, but I usually just use the same species of wood when gluing up my block, so I wouldn’t be of much help to you on that one, but for my blocks, I will try to work with 6/4 or 8/4 stock and cut my pieces from the same board. If you’re interested in more details, just pm me and I’ll be glad to go into more details.
