Topic tags/keywords: dust collector delta

I need to upgrade my Delta dust collector. I am having difficulty deciding between a Wynn canister and a American Fabric Filter bag. I currently have the stock Delta bag and it spits dust every time I turn it on. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

Well, I don’t have a DC, but I will. Beside the difference in price, there’s a difference in air flow. Assuming they both are 1 micron filters, the Winn will have more surface area and therefore more airflow. If you’re not concerned about the price difference, I would get the Winn.

I have a Delta 50-850 d.c. that’s about 16-17 years old…Several years ago I put a Wynn filter on mine in place of the sorry bags that came with it….I ordered the filter, built a “doughnut” for it to sit on, clamped it down, and it is so much better than any bag you can use…The filter didn’t sit down in the conical shape inside the d.c…..that’s the reason for the plywood doughnut….I have pictures of my setup….

While I’ve heard good things about the AFF bags (as bags go), AFAIK it takes a much larger bag to equal the air flow of a decent canister. I also find the canisters far less dusty to clean than even after market bags.

Here ya go….I made the doughnut out of 3/4” ply, and cut the inner circle out to fit the inside diminision of the conical shape, and left enough lip fo it to sit down on top of the d.c….as you can see in the pictures…I then clamp it from the underside to keep it in place, and the rubber lip on the canister seals it to keep dust from leaking..

Rick, how do you clamp the doughnut onto the conical ring?

Have your say...
