One of the things I struggle with are posts that are simply links to another site such as YouTube or Facebook. I looked at a post today where the title said nothing about the project and contained a link to another site. It turns out there was a picture of a very nice project. I really enjoy a good project post with pictures and a description of how the project was made and other details. Maybe, I am a bit grumpy this morning before coffee but I just do not appreciate post with links and no explanation. |

Redoak, I’m with you. I find it annoying when I click on a project, or a blog entry, that just links to an external site with said project/entry. If you’re proud enough of the project, or you think your blog is relevant enough, take the time to put it on this site, even if you just copy paste the text/pictures. If you’re posting, you obviously have the text box up to post, and you clearly have a link to the content, do some copy/pasting for us. When I see that, I think “Why should I take the time to view this, if you can’t take the time to put it on LJ?” This is a bad example, but this annoys me in the same when you get a generic printed letter that they try to make look personalized, and then someone signs it at the bottom. Not to be confused with projects/blogs that do give a lot of detail, and also link to supplemental videos/text to provide more detail. Hats off to those people that take the time to give us a good detailed post, and maybe some links to help us understand/replicate it. -- - The mightiest oak in the forest is just a little nut that held its ground. |

usually I do not follow the link in LJ post when there is only a link. As a general rule I find projects from people that simply post in a conventional way without all the artifice, are much nicer than the ones that “forced” themselves to publish a project a week. If people are too lazy to type anything on LJ but just post a link, I then consider myself too lazy to follow their c%?&*. My 2 cents. Maybe I had too much espresso. Is that possible? |

Some forums where I am a member will probate or ban you for posting just a link. -- Rick M, http://thewoodknack.blogspot.com/ |

Links are good with eggs and hashbrowns! you forgot cheese grits…..northeners…... I almost never follow links, unless the post has had enough info and pictures to make me want to see more. Just a link? Not a chance. -- Producing furniture grade firewood since 1984 |
