Which blades do you prefer? I have been looking at them, but not really sure what brands are the best, and why, and all that goes with the blade info

At the moment, my most used blades are Forrest WWII. the 40 tooth gets used the most, and I have a 30 tooth for use when I’m ripping woods thicker than 1”. I would normally suggest a Freud, but they seemed to have done some things to the tooth profile lately that makes getting them sharpened a bit of a challenge (apparently). But there are a ton of good blades available, and i would consider the tooth count and profile first, then look for a blade that fits the budget. Knotscott has a great article on saw blades, I’ll look for the link and post back if someone doesn’t beat me to it.

There is a great blog on this website for blades, but the person doesnt really specify what are better brands.

I’m getting the point where all of my blades are Freud. Most used are the glue line rip and combination blades. I don’t have any trouble getting them sharpened.

IMHO, it’s better to buy the specific blade, and not necessarily the brand. Some brands offer multiple lines of varying quality….the lesser lines don’t diminish the performance of the upper end of the same brand, just public perception.

The best lines from the better brands are Infinity, Ridge Carbide, Forrest, Freud Premier and Industrial, Tenryu Gold Medal, CMT Industrial, among others.
