Topic tags/keywords: rockwell cordless drills drill-driver question

Has anyone had any recent experience with Rockwell cordless tools? I saw an 18v cordless compack NiCad at Menards the other day and saw they had lifetime battery replacement. I have a ridgid 12v lithium ion driver and the batteries are done for after 9 months of light use. Seems like it’s hit or miss with reliable lithium batteries and the 18v ones are a little pricey. I’m leaning towards a solidly constructed nicad and the lifetime battery warranty seemed like a good deal. I’ve never really paid attention to the Rockwell brand and am unsure of their reliability. I’m assuming the drills they had in the store are newer since they don’t seem like the generic looking ones I’ve seen online?

While I’m no expert and have no knowledge of Rockwell, I can tell you I have 6 Ridgid cordless tools, 2 drills, 1 impact driver, 1 circ saw, and 2 recip. I have two chargers and 4 – 18v ion batteries (2- 3.0 and 2 – 1.5 sized) While I wish they held a longer charge… two years later they still work. I’m not a heavy user, but during these two years I’ve used then on a regular basis. Just finished remodeling the laundry room and moving on to remodel the workshop next. I’d get Ridgid and register the units for the lifetime warranty, which includes the batteries.
