Topic tags/keywords: tip question walnut maple milling joining modern

I want to make 2 brick pattern end grain cutting boards out of walnut with maple morter. I watched a few videos and understand the glue ups but I’m having trouble figuring the bf of walnut needed. I want the final deminsions to be 1 1/2” T x 12” W and 16” L.

Normally I’d just buy (6) 5/4 boards of 6-8” x 8’ walnut and plan on milling up 4. But with price of walnut and my current budget is like to have a better understanding of the bf needed before hand.

Thanks
Andrew

Thanks according to that 4 nice 5/4 walnut boards should be plenty and then some. That’s not including the maple mortar. Which sounds better and more in my price range.

Thanks
