My wife also likes HF, she looks at everything and picks stuff out with that LOOK. She says, you know that thing you said you would fix, this looks like it would help! That’s her polite way of letting me know she has waited long enough, she just don’t understand that I was waiting for her to forget that project. LOL -- Dan-- Info for all @ http://www.hoistman.com |

MsDebbeP – Of course. I have to go shopping with her. It’s a time to spend quality time together. The only store near HF that my wife would go to is Publix, the grocery store. On the over hand if I go to Highland Woodworking she will deign to come along because there is a Chico’s across the street. I would not force someone I love to engage in any activity that bored her so much. Lee -- No piece is cut too short. It was meant for a smaller project. |

My wife likes to spend time with me—not sure why, so any time we ended up in any store that sold tools, it became or joke for me to ask—do you want to look at hammers. She would then say “of course” and we would find the hammer display, where I would then explain the purpose of all the different types of hammers. Now, after all that—-I hate fabric stores, no matter who I’m with. -- Kent Shepherd * The goal is-----More Tools! |

Kent…I’m with you on that….fabric stores are the denizens of all stores – the other contenders are shoe stores…and those ungodly clothing stores…....arghhh…..everytime she tells me she wants to go to this or that fabric store I tell her well sure dear….and right before we need to stop at the tool outlet…I need this and that…..the usual response after that is – drop me off at the fabric store and then go get what you need….that works most of the time….but then if I get done too fast…I still have to hang out in the fabric store….it’s a sad bunch of guys you usually see in there…we all look like dogs that have been smacked with a large newspaper…...sad…. -- Woodworking.....My small slice of heaven! |

fabric is like wood—the bolts of fabric are like different types of trees, each providing a different grain, a different pattern and a different texture so, next time you choose to go to support loving partner, picture the room full of wood… don’t go asking how much a board-foot the stuff is, though :) -- ~ Debbie, Canada (http://www.execulink.com/~yohan) |

Of course there is a difference. Saw mill: board feet, 4/4, S2S, knots, burls, rough cut, grain, grain direction, Oak, Maple, Cherry. I could go on but I’m sure you get the picture. A saw mill is so much more interesting with so many more possibilities. And the wood won’t shrink too much if you get it wet. And if you cut it too small you can still use it in another, smaller, project. If you cut the cloth too short you’re toast unless you have a younger brother. Lee -- No piece is cut too short. It was meant for a smaller project. |

I’m impressed with your fabric knowledge! The wood doesn’t shrink when wet—it expands! and you can always reuse the small pieces of cloth! (THINK QUILTS my friend.. think quilts!!!) :) -- ~ Debbie, Canada (http://www.execulink.com/~yohan) |
