Topic tags/keywords: question timber flotsam

I found this timber on the beach at Blackpool and have no idea what it is. If anybody can advise me, I would be eternally grateful. The timber is in the process of being turned into a dovetailed box:

Thanks. This must be a particularly pale species; I have used African mahogany and it didn’t look like this.

Yes, color does vary. The grain is a good clue though.
