Friends,
Even if I didn’t contribute much to the forums and discussions, I certainly learned a lot from all of you. Your passion for woodworking was a constant impulse forward: I have to learn what he or she did to overcome this or that problem to be able to make this piece.
I’m very sorry to say that my blood and my doctor are telling me to stop working on wood, to close my small basement workshop that I started not long ago. My tools are beautiful because I came to love them, I came to work with them, and together we made pleasant things even if not all perfect. I’m in remission but can’t go back to woodworking. So, it’s time to depart. I’m selling most of them. Please, ask if you have questions.

Thank you for all your thoughts.

Jlas, this must be very difficult for you and I feel your pain. You should consider posting prices with your tools. At least, if they are sold through LJ, you have the benefit of knowing they will be going to good homes.

Sorry to hear you are shutting down.
Health does come first.
Those look like very nice tools, hope you get decent value back when you sell them.
Good luck.

Awwww – I’m sorry to hear of your situation.

A thought comes to mind… there are some forms of wood working that are less “irritating”. Have you thought about carving??

Having to give up your passion appears to be cruel blow to your already condition!

I hope the best for you, perhaps you can find another passion that can fulfill you as well your woodworking did!

Bummer. Hate that you have to give it up. I gave up my motorcycle so I could afford to put up my woodworking shop and I do miss it. But not as much as I was missing working in the shop. I hope whatever your situation, it gets better for you and you find peace in it all.

I also wish I had the money and lived closer. I’d LOVE to have that bandsaw to replace my old Delta

I’m sorry to hear this and pray that you will be healed and recover fully. Perhaps the doctors might allow you to carve/chip carve. A lot of people love it and there is little to no dust generated. It’s also relaxing and therapeutic for many people.

Sorry to hear your having to give up making sawdust.
I grew up in Columbia Md, if I still lived there I would pay you a visit.

I do know that when I had some health issues a couple years back, my shop and building things
were very good therapy for me.

Hope you get all your health back !!!!!!

Sorry to hear you are having to stop doing what you love. I am new to the site and was looking at older posts and saw this as I live relatively close I would be interested in purchasing the Air filtration system if it is still available.
