Building basic cabinets is relatively simple and there are lots of books available, even at the library. Also lots of web sites; here is one, /www.doityourself.com/scat/buildingcabinets. Entry doors can be a real challenge so do lots of research on that one. They can involve weather striping, lock installation, complicated panels and joints.. You will also need some special tools for some types of entry doors. Please don’t take this personally but I would like to make an open comment here. I see many generalized questions like yours posted here that could be at least partially answered by a quick Google search of the internet. Followed up by more specific questions on the subject to members of this group. -- Les B, Oregon |

I recommend Marc Adams video/dvd on Cabinets-have used his techniques for all my cabinetry. His website is And enclosed is a description of the video. Running time 88 minutes. -- Gerry |

Thanks fellas,
I appreciate it. I took a look at the Marc Adams and I think I might go for a four pack of DVDs. Went to Barnes and Nobels but Jim Tolpins wasn’t in stock. Ironically I picked up a woodworkers journal and there was an article on building wood doors. Only thing was they used solid construction and had no info on grain orientation to prevent warping. I was kind of hoping they would go over stave construction a little. -- FMG |
