My wife, Sherie, is sick today, you know, the stomach flu. Ran to the store for 7-UP and popsicles, that she requested. So she is improving a little. She wanted some chicken soup for supper. It is simmering now.

I finished my sanding downdraft table, posted the end of that project. ......and a funny mobile shop table that I made 17 years ago that I noticed, and thought about again, when finding a place for Dusty, that’s what the downdraft table calls himself. Posted the mobile table as a What’s This? Poked around and commented on a few projects.

The end of a busy weekend working in the shop, now just enjoying my time on LJ’s, doing what we do together. Quiet. Soul food.

Sherie, and Kermit, my 20 year old conure, are sitting here in my den, Sherie recovering, Kermit clucking and talking a little, Sherie commenting quietly to him. Subdued Irish folk music in the background. Can smell the chicken soup…....no recipe…....2 cans of broth, a little rosemary, some dill, razor thin carrots, onions, and celery, some left over chopped up roast chicken, broken up fettucine. I’m sipping a little Chardonnay.

I am a professional in the healing arts….........but its just 7-UP, popsicles, chicken soup, and togetherness….......that makes us better…..........

Have a good week.

Glad to hear your wife is better. Give her my best wishes.Chicken soup will cure anything! Talking about your bird dunking, when I was a kid we had a parakeet name of Pat. He was out of his cage flying around the house quite a bit. He also liked to dunk into drinks. He dunked into my mother’s hot coffee one morning. What a skreech! It was a long time before he did any more dunking. Another time, my mother had a chicken roasting in the oven. She didn’t know Pat was on her shoulder when she opened the oven door to see if the chicken was done. Another skreech and Pat didn’t come out of his cage for a week after that. And then there was the pre-Christmas open house we had for friends and family where Pat became the center of attention….................

Actually, I recall seeing studies indicating there is some compound in chicken soup conducive to alleviating a cold. In real practice, it just seems to work, be that imagina
