My wife left me and went on vacation two days ago , and won’t be back for another week. I mean ,I’d like to go some where but I can’t seem to get out of the shop .It is sunday and I am doing bids by FAX and E-mail with one customer here for three hours trying to pick my brain on my time because it his his day off ! I have a wall of clipboards stuffed full of designs , design change orders ,and people that just can not make up their minds. Left overs again for dinner – Time to get my act together for Monday. |

I hear you Rob. I’m filling out forms and finalizing drawings for a shop I don’t even own. LOL. We just have to push forward knowing that our ultimate vacation is Retirement, and the better we do now, the better it will be. Now get back to work. LOL -- ~ Inspiring those who inspire me ~ |

I know what you mean Rob, I used to love to go to the shop in the evenings or on Sunday to have some quiet time to work out some details, only to have friends or customers stop by because they have lots of time to visit or get ideas from me on how to design or build something. I had one of my Customers call me at home just a couple hours ago. It’s a good thing we love what we do. Hope you have a good Monday! LOL -- John @ Myrtle Beach |

Hang in there Rob. The last time my wife left me for a week I sanded refinished the hardwood floors in three rooms. It almost killed me. That’s a lot of work. Bothus -- Professional kitchen designer, amature woodworker. |

I am not in the woodworking business. But in a business as about as intense as it gets anywhere. And I own my own business. I learned sometime, about 15 to 20 years ago, when you are off, you better be off (call ). Or you will suffer. And not do as good a job when you are up to bat. Time to yourself pays off, for yourself, and your clients. You are not depriving anyone of anything by taking time off. It prevents burn-out, over stress, bad judgements, and saves the family too. You don’t just owe it to yourself, you owe it to your clients as well. Time off allows you to recharge, think in an innovative way, be creative, and responsive to the others that need you. Find a quiet place, and think about the big picture, and where you are going, and what you would like to create and who you want to be…........ -- Jim, Anchorage Alaska |
