Turned my first wine stopper today. Drilled the hole for the mandrel and mounted in the chuck. Now I cannot get the finished stopper off of the mandrel. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

try putting the stopper and mandrel in the freezer. When it gets cold the mandrel should shrink more than the wood and maybe it will release.

In the future turn the blank onto your chuck and back it off… coat with a little wax and put it back on… it should come off easily after that.

I tried the the freezer trick. It didn’t work so well. I will try it again later. I will let you know how it works out. I will try the wax suggestion on the next one.
