Topic tags/keywords: jointer planer toys

I am looking at the Jet 10 inch jointer/planer combo (JJP-10btos).

Anyone have one of these or used one? I have found reviews of the 8 inch model but can’t seem to find any feed back on the 10 inch model. While on the subject I am also looking at band saws too. In what order would y’all (yes I’m a southerner) recommend buying these tools. My goal is to be able to buy some of the thicker exotic lumber out there and mill it down to the size I need. Thanks for any help.

Richard, assuming you already have a table saw, I would get the jointer next. don’t know about the combo as I have never used one. wish I could be more help.

The 10” model is underpowered, has undersized infeed and outfeed tables. I’d suggest getting a planer first, since you can make a planer sled to joint one face using a home made planer sled and the thickness planer. I have had the dewalt 735 for about 6 years now and have used it a ton without any problems. It can plane 13” wide boards which is pretty good in a portable planer.

Thanks for the reply. I am in the research phase so I will look into these alternatives.
