Topic tags/keywords: tip resource trick question

Hi Mark Here I am in the process of building a aquarium stand and am going to skin it out using some ambrosia
its. 72” long and 18” front to back with 2 doors appox 25 inches tall and 15” wide and trimed out with walnut
and I need a finish that will really show off the maple and walnut (prefer high gloss butt can be talked out of that). If you have any pics or know where any are that would be a real plus, secret recipes will also be checked out…...................................Thanks for your help

I would use a varathane, (polyurathane, hard and water resistant) but you might want to try a Danish oil or tung oil to bring out the wood color before applying the top finish. Practice on some scraps and let the oil dry for at least a week before topcoating. Most water based varathanes are crystal clear so if you need a mellow coloring use oil base or look for water base varathane that is tinted.
