You’ve seen the videos I just thought I’d post this as a “common” man – a guy with a normal sharpening set up and average skills. Disclaimer: This is not an advertisement for WoodRiver, I just wanted to document the set up, just to compare, it wasn’t much different then the LN 4 1/2 I got a couple months ago.

Out of the box @ 4:37

Cleaned up/back flattened & honed @5:11 (I promise its flat I couldn’t get the lighting right).
Total time for flattening was app 15 mins.

Ready for work in 31 minutes.

Mighty fine set-up! You’re ready to roll. Is the steel O1? Curiosity, what’d pay?

Very interested in how it works and how it holds up over several months. I would guess that your LN plane needed little to no flattening. I could really use a #4 1/2 and the E-Bay prices have been disappointing.

I have a #6 that I’ve used quite heavily for about a year. Its a great performer so I expect the #4 will be similar.

You guessed right about the LN ;-)

I would avoid Ebay I’ve never yet seen a LN plane on there that wasn’t so near retail it wasn’t worth it.
