Thanks much Dave. This was a wonderful video. This house for me is and has been the ultimate in design and truly my dream house. The video looks like the real thing. I wonder what program they used to produce it with. -- Mike, American in Norway |

You’re all quite welcome. I’ve always liked that house, too. It’s too bad it was built when it was, though. The design would have benefitted from some of the more modern materials that weren’t available then. Did any of you see anything about the restoration job that was done on the house a few years ago? -- Until you spread your wings, you'll have no idea how far you can walk. |

Thanks, Dave. The house is quite spectacular but the computer and software that generated the film must have been awesome! |

Lew, I imagine you’re right. I’d guess if I tried to do that on my computer, all the magic smoke would come out. -- Until you spread your wings, you'll have no idea how far you can walk. |

It looked like a SU demo at first… a lot of Push & Pulling! You’d have to be able to define textured surfaces, etc. BEFORE using the other tools… right? If anyone could do it, Dave, you could! Going to try it? -- Have Fun! Joe Lyddon - Alta Loma, CA USA - Home: http://www.WoodworkStuff.net ... My Small Gallery: http://www.ncwoodworker.net/pp/showgallery.php?ppuser=1389&cat=500" |

HI Joe. No, I’m not going to try modeling Falling Water. Besides, it’s already been done. ;) The Push/Pulling can be done in SketchUp although it is really a case of setting section planes in different places for different scenes. Here’s a little test I made 3 years ago. -- Until you spread your wings, you'll have no idea how far you can walk. |

Hi Dave, When I went to your link, this is what I saw: New Boyz “Tie Me Down” (I don’t think you did it… :) ) I couldn’t see anything else that looked like you did it… Can you be more detailed… maybe the Title or a better link? Really a neat video – been almost 10 years since I toured it when I was living in Morgantown, and they were working on the renovations. Too bad Mr Wright so Loathed the engineers – his artistic vision was great, but his archetectural engineering was always sorely lacking. Falling water was sagging even though the construction workers “snuck” 2 times the reinforcing steel into the concrete frame…had they followed Franks plan it would have collapsed within 10 years of construction. But his vision integrating the house with the landscape over the waterfall at bear run and even the windows in the study that open such that there are no frames impeding the view, and the staircase down to the creek from the living quarters is real genius -- Its never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else. |

Yes, it is too bad that Wright didn’t allow the engineers more input. I heard a story of the addition to his bedroom at his house at Taliesin. According to the folks there now, he decided the bedroom wasn’t grand enough when he heard that House Beautiful or some similar magazine was coming to do a spread on his place. He got a bunch of the students to rip open the wall and build an addition without any engineering input. I guess it has been fixed up but for years the addition was nearly falling off the house. -- Until you spread your wings, you'll have no idea how far you can walk. |

FLW was indeed a man ahead of his time. He also had quite a sense of humor….I studied a bit of his work and biography when I was a student taking courses in building and engineering. We did some film projects and one of them was a tour of the FLW designs in the area….we got permission to film in several of the buildings…..it was a great experience for novice designers… -- Woodworking.....My small slice of heaven! |
