I guess I am probably the laziest LJ member, but I sure would appreciate it if the post button was higher up so that comment posts could be posted without having to scroll down to it. I'm not thinking of forming a "raise the button" pressure group or anything, but that little change would make posting a little more convenient. If there is an easier way to get to it without scrolling please let me know. I'm not very skilled at computer user.
If I did I would be able to sit down, but not be able to get back out of it! Sounds like a very creative solution though. I guess my post did sound like the height of laziness. I guess I should be embarrassed about it, but strangely I'm not. No pride. Oh well that's what happens when you get old.
I think he means have a link that would jump down here to the box, so that you dont have to scroll through all the comments to make your own…something like that I think…
Do you know where can I buy that computer? I would have gotten this reply posted sooner but I had to take the time to scroll down to the post button. Sorry for the delay!
I can't use a mouse with my laptop while using it sitting in my recliner chair. Bob, you know I am long winded. Here I go scrolling now to post this comment. A lot of extra work. Whew! Now that I think about it, maybe I'm not so lazy, I just want to be more efficient. My wife might not be convinced about this, but in cyber space anything goes. Right?
Hey Mike …I scrolled all the way to the bottom to post this…..but then it said I had to sign in first….so …scroll all the way to the top to sign in….then you guessed it….scroll all the way back down here to post….just glad there aren't 50 more replys yet
As soon as you saw put the post button up higher then you will need the two other ones up higher also and then every thing will be at the top and afte4r reading all of the posts you will have to go to the top. This is a lose/lose situation.
Well from all the comments I can see this is a pretty controversial subject. We have the "move" and "don't move" factions facing off. I imagine we might have a few folks sitting on the fence. They might be a lot younger and not see the need for this proposed change.
I do hope however, that all of you out there will think carefully about this hot issue. As woodworkers we all know the importance of button placement. I'm sure most of you out there have read tool reviews where a tool was ranged inferior to another tool which had a better on/off button arrangement. This just shows the importance of ergometrics in our society. Karpel tunnel syndrom is a dreaded condition which we all need to avoid so we can continue chopping mortises and using our handplanes. Safety first should be our byword! And why shouldn't this apply to computer use as well?
Once you become addicted to LJ and have to review and comment on a million posts a day, the seriousness of scrolling becomes uppermost in our minds (at least in mine). It isn't like we want to do this. It's more like we have to do it because we have lost control and have become totally obsessed, just like with our woodworking. Myself, I am going through withdrawal pains now that I have been spending most of my time in the house with my wife recovering from her hip operation. On top of that she thinks I am spending way to much time on the computer when I could be vacuuming and washing floors. To tell you the truth she just doesn't understand me.
Well I guess I will conclude this comment now that the post button is in sight. I do hope my comments have woken up some folks who have been complacent with the current location of the post button. To Dick and Barb, I appreciate your attempt to help me out on this issue, but I don't dare try a voice actuated program. If I start talking to my computer on top of all the time I spend on LJ I'm 100% sure my wife will throw me out on my ear.
And for you skeptics who think this whole subject was brought about because I am bored and miss my shop, I say think again! Change is what I stand for. Remember, while most of you sleep I'm awake doing my LJ work!
I glad you are getting the message David, and to Dick and Barb, it warms my heart to see that folks in Hibbing Montana are also showing a lot of interest and awareness about this subject. Also I would like to say that if I want to have a conversation about woodworking in my house, I am forced to have it with myself, because nobody else is interested! They just want the finished product and not the unnecessary details. That's why I'm so glad to have contact with all of you good folks who understand a woodworkers needs.
I think its important that you scroll down to the problem, because then you would be more inclined to read the comments and not ask a question that has already been answered.
No, no, Tom. I don't want to miss the comments. I don't mind scrolling through them at all. It's scrolling to the post button after I have typed in my own comments. I'm going to do that right now. Thanks for your input.
