Topic tags/keywords: dw7670 h7200 dado

I just took delivery of my dado set from Grizzly today, and found what looks to be a manufacturing defect in one of the blades. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say it looks like a key slot along the perimeter of the arbor hole. Since I’m just getting started on setting up a hobby shop in my garage, I’m not sure how much of an effect this might have on it’s performance and most importantly, safety. I haven’t tried installing it in the saw yet. I’ll try to post a couple of pictures.

I guess what I want to know is whether I should even try using the set or contact Grizzly/DeWalt for a replacement blade straightaway?

Sorry for the lousy photo quality.

Thanks for any advice,

I’m sure I would never have given that a thought….doesn’t mean you shouldn’t, but I’d be more tempted to put it on my saw than to have it replaced. It doesn’t appear to be enough to throw off the balance. It’s possible that it’s intentional…maybe as an indicator of some sort. Wouldn’t hurt to ask their tech staff about it.

Thanks, I’ll go with your advice. It doesn’t look like it would make much difference to me, either, but since I haven’t done any of this stuff since HS woodshop, just figured I’d ask. By the way, your review of the set was the primary reason I settled on this one. Not to mention a little bit of influence on buying my TS3660 this spring (don’t worry, I won’t let the wife know).

Thanks again,

I don’t think I would worry about so long as it fits properly on the saw’s arbor. This is a minor blem that I doubt would effect balance or performance.

If you decide you don’t want that dado set, you can ship it to me! LOL
