So I recently picked up a delta 43-375 3hp shaper. I have been looking at insert heads specifically the 40mm “euro block” type profiling heads as well as rabbiting and raised panel heads.

I have been looking @ cmt and amana for the profiling and rabbiting heads, but there seem to be a bunch of them out there so I would be interested in any brand that works well. The only panel raising head I’ve found small enough diameter for the delta seems to be the freud rp2000. The Amanda and cmt all seem to be 6-7” dia.

Can anyone recommend a general setup for home shop usage.

Additionally I’m currently looking for a power feeder, so these heads will mostly be used with one.

yes there are a lot of them out there. For a really good one you will pay about half what that shaper cost you.

Any particular reason you want an insert head.

For occasional use i would go with something like grizzly lineup of carbide cutters. Good bang for the buck

The multi profile insert heads just seemed like a better value. More up front cost, but cheaper adding additional profiles.

CMT has a couple of multi-profile sets that are inexpensive, come in small diameters and with small bores if you that. This is the cheapest I have seen them. I personally can’t attest to how good they are.

They also have the knife sets starting at about $14 a set, CMT has a decent number of 40 and 50mm profiles.

Have your say...
