Topic tags/keywords: question tip bandsaw

I went to buy the Kreg precision bandsaw fence, but the description says it fits most 14” saws. So then I called Kreg and asked if they have a different one, or if the extrusion can be replaced with a slight upcharge. He said they have a 48” heavy duty extrusion usually meant for table saws that is $60 alone. So that would bring the price up about 55 %. I made a quite nice one that holds its stiffness for a small 10” Craftsman I have, but I think for this, I would want something precision machined. Is it better to attempt a DIY fence, or is there one on the market that would be around the Kreg’s price range ( $109 ) ?

IIRC that bandsaw has about a 20” square table. Most of the aftermarket BS fences are designed for the usual 14” deep table on 14” cast saws. Outside of doing a DIY fix the best budget option is the Grizzly fences for their 513 and 514 saws, they sell the full kit for right at $160 and includes a hi/lo extrusion. There are not many budget friendly options for saws larger than 14” but the Grizzly is a solid quality fence for what is a very reasonable price.

Kreg makes a shorter extrusion than that. Right after I bought my fence, I also bought a 24” extrusion and it’s the one I use most of the time. I guess it’s possible they discontinued it.
