And to think, there is one on Craigslist locally for $4,000. So, yeah, You SUCK!

You indeed suck. Whether I would keep it or not depends on what you have now, if you have the room (PM planers have a big footprint compared to capacity) and what sort of shape the machine is in. Did you get the grinder with it? The PM 180 and its siblings are excellent “rough” planers and were really the class of the “small” light weight rough planers. If it were me I would probably refurb it, and if it didn’t have a grinder with it I would add a Byrd head in the process. I imagine it has straight knives since I don’t think the Quiet Head was offered on the 180, if it is a Quiet Head I would sell it or replace the head.

That is a massive YOU SUCK if ever there was one. I’ve looked and looked for quite some time now and a few times I’ve gotten good deals, but that exact planer is what I’ve been searching for and they’re readily available if your ready to shell out $3000 – $6000. That’s such a deal it deserves a second YOU SUCK! You have to tell us where and how you came upon such a deal. If you do decide to sell it, I can double your money right now.

So this is a 7.5 hp 3 phase motor. Are people going to be interested in this being 3 phase, or should i find a single phase motor?

A three phase motor is likely not going to interest a potential home user, but then again a decent used motor of that size is likely to be well over $300. My offer still stands, I can double your money, Indy isn’t that far from Cle.

NO NO NO! Keep the original motor, just put a phase converter on in! It’s a piece of cake!

If you only will have 1 3 phase tool, get a VFD, if you plan on getting more, and the big industrial 3 phase tools are awesome and cheap to get, then invest in a Rotary phase converter that will run all your tools.

Thats a fantastic deal, and it will last 10 times longer than the new ones made today.

If i keep it, i would get a phase convertor. But I would like to sell it so I can make more to buy more tools.

Ok then put a TECO on it and sell it with the VFD. Still works. I’ll give you 300 as is . :) You doubled your money. But thats just because I like ya. Good luck, you have a great deal there!
