Does anyone know what kind of wood this is? I was thinking Maple at first but the multi colored streaking is throwing me a bit. Thanks

I’m thinking Cherry,but the end grain is kinda throwing me off almost looks like it still has high MC.

The picture is making it appear more tan, it is actually more of an off white color. The cherry I have worked with before was a lot darker/tanner than this is

Those brown streaks you see are called pith flecks. They are characteristic of red maple.

I have some leftover alder that looks very much like that, flecking and all.

You could probably differentiate between maple and alder by weight and hardness.
