Topic tags/keywords: help identification species

Helly Everyone,
I need help figuring out what type of wood this is. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a picture of skin

Here are some pics of the wood itself.

It is very dense and heavy. I was told that is was Desert Ironwood but it floats.
One log has been sitting directly on the ground for years and has no termite or worm damage and is not rotted.

Possible hint – Both times I’ve worked with this wood I had very strange dreams that night. The person I got the wood from had similar experience

Would help a little bit if you would tell us what part of the world the wood came from, New Mexico or New Zealand??

Absoltely right! As far as I know it originated in Arizona
Another him: I have a stump that is 28” diameter.
