“Someone broke into the Woodcraft store in the Castleton (IN) area on Friday morning and stole woodworking tools. Rowland had placed GPS devices in some of the packaging.”

Ha! What a smart owner! I hope they catch the guy!

I wish I had a GPS unit in my truck when it got stolen. Whoever broke into that store should be stoned in the town square.

Amen! A little justice now and then would go a long way towards crime prevention.

What a fantastic idea ! There could be a whole new line of personal “tracker bugs” that could be placed by the owner, anywhere in or on any product which, if stolen, could be tracked with a consumer supplied code!
Your stuff may be stolen, but you’d be assured of getting it back along with the thief.

When I purchased my Ridgid ROS it had this plastic clip on thing attached to the power cord. There was some name brand on it but I don’t remember what it was.

Curious, I Goggled the name and discovered that it was a tracking device of sorts designed supposedly to track merchandise from the factory to the warehouse to the retailer.

Needless to say I pried it off, cut it into a couple of pieces and threw the pieces in the garbage.

I’d rather see GPS’s in trucks than car alarms…go ahead fill the jails we can build more.
