I picked these up today. What would you make out of them? Sizes average 9×6x32.

Those checks running deep. Might salvage enough for a small bowl.

I’d use the checked ends for some bottle stoppers

I think i do better than that. these pieces are big (thats a 5 gallon bucket in the background) and the checks are at the one end. the pictures don’t do them justice.

Either resaw into veneers or make bowls with them.

Plenty of beautiful figure there!

I’d resaw into veneers as well. Lots of good figure there that could go on a lot of different things.

Well seems how I am getting ready to make some furniture for my living room I am going to go with resawing into veneers as well. I could see several bookmatched door panels/tops coming out of these. My perspective may be a little skewed as well because I don’t own a lathe. Left overs being used for small projects, boxes etc. I would love to score some material like that!

If that’s bigleaf maple, then I’d make sure to flatsaw when you make veneers. There should be some nice figure in there.
