Topic tags/keywords: question

Could someone identify the figured wood in this Ray Allen bowl. I’d like to make this bowl but I don’t know the species of the highly figured wood he used.

I cannot help you with wood species but would suggest finding a highly figured wood you like and can afford and just go for it.

You might try posting you question with picture over at: http://www.woodcentral.com/woodworking/forum/turning.pl

Would caution you to rephrase how you ask the question. For example, “I would like to turn a segmented bowl with highly figured wood as seen in this Ray Allen turning. “

Good luck with it!

Try searching for “pippy” woods.
